Fall Garden 2014 Plan

Here’s the quick and dirty sketch of my fall garden:

Fall Garden Plan

I’m going to have 2 – 4’x4′ gardens, 1 – 3’x3′ garden, and one small planter box with a trellis.  I tried to plan these with both companion planting and what we’ll actually eat in mind.  Please let me know if you spot anything that shouldn’t be planted together!

And yes, I’m going to try a late cantaloupe.  My handy little guide said I can plant them through September here and I’m going to take them up on it.  🙂  Although . . . I don’t usually have much luck when I only plant one of something.  And it’s much more devastating when something eats that one plant.  Oh well, I understand the risks.

What are you planting this fall/winter?

  1. Plant the cantaloupe in a hill with about 4 seeds. Then after they get the second set of leaves, pull out 2. (I know, it hurts.) Then let the other 2 trail over the side of your garden.
